周荣 〔周榮〕 zhōu róng

Modern location: An acupoint located on the chest, in the second intercostal space, 6 cùn lateral to the midline.
Classical location: One cùn and six fēn below Celestial Treasury (LU-1), six cùn from the midline. The point is found in supine posture. From
Local anatomy: The lateral thoracic artery and vein, the 2nd intercostal artery and vein. The muscular branch of the anterior thoracic nerve, the lateral cutaneous branch of the 2nd intercostal nerve.
Action: Diffuses and downbears lung qì; suppresses cough and stabilizes panting.
Modern indications: Cough;
Classical indications: Spitting of foul pus; inability to get food and drink down.
Needle stimulus: Needling: 0.4‒0.5 cùn outward oblique insertion. Moxa: 5 cones; pole 5‒20 min.

The spleen manages the blood and disperses essence, thus nourishing the body. The lung distributes this nourishment in the form of the qì and fluids through the body.
周营 (zhōu yíng), All-Round Provisioning, is an alternate name for this point. This name more directly relates the nourishing nature of the point because 营 is the character that represents the nourishing aspect of qi-blood (i.e., 营气 yíng qì), provisioning qì, which is the theoretical complement of 卫气 (wèi qì), defense qì.
