Properties: Bitter; balanced.
Actions and indications: Clears heat and disinhibits dampness; disperses stasis and relieves pain; stanches bleeding and engenders flesh. Treats dysentery; enteritis; damp-heat water swelling; painful swellings and sore-toxin; eczema; persistent foot rot; bleeding from external injury.
Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g flower and fruit, 15–30g twig and leaf). Topical: Decoct twig and leaf as a wash.
