Channel entry: Heart, spleen, and stomach channels.

Indications:

When uncooked, it clears heat, cools the blood, and disperses stasis, treating vexing thirst in febrile disease, vomiting of blood (blood ejection), spontaneous external bleeding and heat strangury.

For this purpose, often simply the juice (obtained by crushing) is used. When cooked, it fortifies the spleen and opens the stomach, boost the blood and engenders flesh.
