Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter and acrid; cold; toxic.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and resolves toxin; disperses swelling and binds; relieves pain. Treats scrofula; swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng); wind-damp pain; whooping cough; injury from knocks and falls.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (6–9g; boil for at least four hours). Topical: Apply crushed or ground to a powdered and blended with liquid; can also be decocted as a wash.

Production area: Guǎngdōng, Guǎngxī, Fújiàn, Táiwān, Zhèjiāng, Jiāngxī, Húnán, Sìchuān.
