Use: Medicinal

Properties: Acrid and bitter; warm; nontoxic*.

Actions and indications: Dispels wind; eliminates phlegm and calms panting; moves qì and relieves pain. Similar in function to negundo vitex leaf but has a more powerful phlegm-eliminating action. Treats common cold; cough; wheezing and panting; wind impediment (fēng bì); malarial disease; stomach pain; mounting qì (shàn qì); hemorrhoids and fistulas.

Dosage and method: 6–9g.
