Properties: Bitter; cool.

Actions and indications: Clears heat and disinhibits dampness; stanches bleeding and transforms stasis. Treats common cold; sore throat; taxation damage coughing of blood; dysentery; blood strangury; menstrual irregularities; mounting qì (shàn qì); clove sores (dīng); injury from knocks and falls.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g) or grind to a powder and infuse. Topical: Apply crushed; grind and insufflate into throat.
