Properties: Sweet and bitter; balanced or cold*; nontoxic*.

Actions and indications: Clears the lung and relieves cough; supplements the spleen and engenders liquid. Treats pulmonary tuberculosis; wheezing and panting; gastritis; stomach pain; vitamin a and c deficiency.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (30–60g root, 9–15g young twigs and bark).
