Origin in unofficial sources: Serissa serissoides (DC.) Druce; Serissa foetida Comm.

Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter and acrid; cool.

Actions and indications: Dispels wind; disinhibits dampness; clears heat; and resolves toxin. Treats wind-damp lumbar and thigh pain; dysentery; water swelling; painful red swollen eyes; sore throat; toothache; vaginal discharge; welling- and flat-abscesses (yōng jū); scrofula.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g dried, 30–60g fresh). Topical: Decoct as a wash or apply crushed.

Production area: Central and southern China.
