狗舌草 〔狗舌草〕 gǒu shé cǎo

Kingdom: Plant

Origin in unofficial sources: Senecio integrifolius (L.) Clairvill var. fauriei (Lévl. et Vant.) Kitam.

Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter*; cold*.

Actions and indications: Clears heat, disinhibits water, and kills worms. Treats pulmonary abscess; nephritic nephritis; swollen boils; scab (jiè) and sores.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g). Topical: Apply crushed, or grind to a powder and sprinkle on the affected area.
