Origin in unofficial sources: Saururus chinensis (Lour.) Baill.

Use: Medicinal

Properties: Sweet and acrid; cold.

Actions and indications: Disinhibits water and eliminates dampness; clears heat and resolves toxin. Treats leg qì (jiǎo qì); swelling of the shin; strangury-turbidity (lìn zhuó); vaginal discharge; swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng); sores; lichen (xiǎn).

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g dried, 3–9g fresh) or juice. Topical: Decoct as a wash, or grind to a powder and apply blended with liquid.
