Properties: Sweet; cold; astringent.

Actions and indications: Clears heat, cools the blood, and resolves toxin. Treats heat panting; blood strangury; boils and welling-abscesses (yōng). The juice of the fresh skinned fresh rhizome and applied topically is effective for dormant papules (urticaria).

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (30–60g) or extract juice. Topical: Apply crushed or as juice.

Production area: Guǎngxī, Guǎngdōng, Yúnnán, Fújiàn, Táiwān, Sìchuān.
