Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter; cool.

Actions and indications: Clears heat, disinhibits dampness, disperses swelling, and resolves toxin. Treats jaundice; heat dysentery; strangury-turbidity (lìn zhuó); painful red swollen eyes; steaming bone taxation heat effusion; dizziness; tinnitus; wind-damp impediment (fēng shī bì) pain; toxin swelling of welling-abscesses (yōng) and sores.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (15–18g). Topical: Apply crushed.
