Properties: Bitter*; cold*; nontoxic*.

Actions and indications: Disperses phlegm and settles fright; clears heat and resolves toxin. Treats phlegm-heat panting and cough; child fright epilepsy (jīng xián); scrofula and phlegm nodes.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (0.6–15g). Topical: Grind with vinegar.

Quality: Large, dark-colored, brittle stones are the best.

Production area: India, Malaysia, Indonesia.
