Properties: Sweet; warm.
Channel entry: Kidney, lung, and large intestine channels.
Indications:
- Warms and supplements the kidney and lung: Panting and cough in dual vacuity of the kidney and lung; aching lumbus and knees, seminal emission, frequent urination.
- Moistens the intestines:
Intestinal dryness constipation. - Additional uses: Hé táo rén may be used to treat stone strangury (lìn).
Dosage & Method: Oral: 10‒30g in decoctions, pills, or powders. To stabilize panting and cough, retain the skin around the walnut flesh. The skin may be removed to moisten the intestines.
Warnings: Unsuitable in yīn vacuity with effulgent fire,
Quality: Large plump oily yellow kernels are the best.
Product Area: Most parts, especially Héběi, Shānxī, Shāndōng and other northern provinces, the biggest producer being Héběi, and the best being produced in Shānxī.
