Properties: Acrid and slightly bitter; cool; nontoxic*.

Actions and indications: Resolves the exterior and clears heat; disperses swelling and resolves toxin. Treats common cold characterized by heat effusion, headache, and thirst; parotitis; measles; dysentery; enteritis; swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng); scrofulous lump; sore-toxin; eczema; hemorrhoids.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–18g dried, 30–60g fresh). Topical: Apply to the affected area.

Production area: Jiāngxī, Fújiàn, Guǎngdōng, Guǎngxī.
