Use: Medicinal

Properties: Bitter and astringent; cool.

Actions and indications: Reduces inflammation, stanches bleeding, astringes the intestines. Treats enteritis; dysentery; pain in the stomach duct and abdomen; internal bleeding; nosebleed; bloody stool; profuse menstruation; postpartum bleeding; injury from knocks and falls.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (9–15g), steep in wine, or use in pills.
