Use: Medicinal

Properties: Sweet; balanced.

Actions and indications: Promotes lactation; disinhibits dampness; quickens the blood; disperses swelling. Treats seminal emission; strangury-turbidity (lìn zhuó); chyluria; enduring dysentery; intestinal wind bleeding; swollen welling-abscesses (yōng zhǒng); clove sores (dīng).

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (6–15g) or use in pills and powders. Topical: Decoct as a wash.

Production area: Mainly produced in Jiāngsū, Zhèjiāng, Guǎngdōng, Sìchuān.
