Properties: Sweet, bitter, and acrid; cool; nontoxic.

Channel entry: Liver and lung channels.

Actions and indications: Cools the blood and stanches bleeding; disperses stasis and disperses swelling. Treats vomiting of blood (blood ejection); nosebleed (nǜ xuè); flooding; bloody stool; blood strangury; injury from knocks and falls; scalds. For bleeding, combine with gardenia and arborvitae leaf.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (4.5–9g) or take in powder form. Topical: Grind.
