Properties: Acrid^✽; warm^✽; nontoxic.^✽

Actions and indications: Disperses wind and expels cold; disperses phlegm and moves water; quickens the blood, calms panting, and relieves pain. Treats wind-cold common cold; phlegm-rheum; cough and panting; water swelling; wind-damp; injury from knocks and falls; headache; tooth decay pain; sand qì (shā qì); abdominal pain.

Dosage and method: Oral: Decoct (1.5–3g), steep in wine, or use in powders. Topical: Grind and blow into the nose, or apply crushed.
