Licorice and Aconite Decoction
甘草附子汤 〔甘草附子湯〕 gān cǎo fù zǐ tāng

Ingredients
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 6g
- Fù zǐ (附子 Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, aconite [accessory root]) 9g
- Bái zhú (白朮 Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, white atractylodes [root]) 9g
- Guì zhī (桂枝 Cinnamomi Ramulus, cinnamon twig) 9g
Actions: Warms the yáng of the heart and kidney to eliminate
Indications: Contention of wind and damp with vexing joint pain that is exacerbated by pressure and that prevents bending and stretching. Other signs include sweating, shortness of breath, inhibited urination, aversion to cold deterring the patient from removing his clothing, and in some cases slight generalized swelling.
Method: Decoct with water.
