Source: Yī Fāng Xīn Jiě 医方新解

Ingredients

• Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 12g
• Xiān máo (仙茅 Curculiginis Rhizoma, curculigo [root]) 30–75g
• Zhǐ shí (枳实 Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, unripe bitter orange) 12g
• Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 12g
• Mǔ dān pí (牡丹皮 Moutan Cortex, moutan [bark]) 12g
• Huáng bǎi (黄柏 Phellodendri Cortex, phellodendron [bark]) 12g

Actions: Clears heat and courses the liver; quickens the blood and relieves pain.

Indications: Initial-stage intestinal welling-abscess (cháng yōng) (appendicitis) with pain in the lower right quadrant (along the liver channel), heat effusion, and cold hands and feet.
