Bupleurum Four Agents Decoction
柴胡四物汤 〔柴胡四物湯〕 chái hú sì wù tāng

Ingredients
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 24g
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 9g
- Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome]) 9g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried) 9g
- Sān qī (三七 Notoginseng Radix, notoginseng [root]) 9g
- Xiān máo (仙茅 Curculiginis Rhizoma, curculigo [root]) 45g
- Shú dì huáng (熟地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, cooked rehmannia [root]) 45g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 45g
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]) 45g
Indications: Externally contracted evils penetrating to the reverting yīn characterized by pain extending from the chest to the back and
Method: Grind to a powder; or, as is the modern convention, reduce the amounts and prepare as a decoction.
Dosage: Powder taken in 9–12g dosages.
