Ingredients:

• Náo shā (硇砂 Sal Ammoniacum , sal ammoniac) 3g
• Qīng fěn (轻粉 Calomelas , calomel) 1g
• Xióng huáng (雄黄 Realgar , realgar) 1g
• Bīng piàn (冰片 Borneolum , borneol) 0.15g

Action:

Indication: This formula was originally devised for treating ear piles 耳痔 ěr zhài, equivalent to granulationXX or papilloma of the ear, but is now also used for nasal polyps.

Category:

Rationale: Náo shā disperses accumulations and softens hardness. Qīng fěn kills worms, disinhibits dampness, astringes. Xióng huáng resolves toxin and kills worms, quickens the blood and relieves pain. These three agents are all toxic. Bīng piàn is an aromatic orifice opener that clears heat and relieves pain.
