Liver-Soothing Decoction
舒肝汤 〔舒肝湯〕 shū gān tāng
Source: Wàn Bìng Huí Chūn 万病回春
Ingredients
- Chái hú (柴胡 Bupleuri Radix, bupleurum [root]) 5g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 5g
- Táo rén (桃仁 Persicae Semen, peach kernel) 3g
- Chì sháo (赤芍 Paeoniae Radix Rubra, red peony [root]) 3g
- Qīng pí (青皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, unripe tangerine peel) 3g
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]) 3g
- Zhǐ shí (枳实 Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, unripe bitter orange) 2g
- Huáng lián (黄连 Coptidis Rhizoma, coptis [root]) 1g
- Hóng huā (红花 Carthami Flos, carthamus [flower]) 1g
- Wú zhū yú (吴茱萸 Evodiae Fructus, evodia [fruit]) 0.5g
Indications: Pain and in the left rib-side and tensing of the muscles on the left side of the abdomen.
Method: Decoct with water.
