Injury Stasis-Dispersing Pill
治伤消瘀丸 〔治傷消瘀丸〕 zhì shāng xiāo yú wán

Ingredients
- Mǎ qián zǐ (马钱子 Strychni Semen, nux vomica) (processed with grit/sand) 300g
- Zhè chóng (蟅虫 Eupolyphaga seu Steleophaga , ground beetle) (stir-fried) 300g
- Rǔ xiāng (乳香 Olibanum , frankincense) (processed) 300g
- Mò yào (没药 Myrrha , myrrh) (processed) 300g
- Zì rán tóng (自然铜 Pyritum , pyrite) (calcined and water-ground) 300g
- Gǔ suì bǔ (骨碎补 Drynariae Rhizoma, drynaria [root]) 200g
- Má huáng (麻黄 Ephedrae Herba, ephedra) 300g
- Xiāng fù (香附 Cyperi Rhizoma, cyperus [rhizome]) (processed) 200g
- Pú huáng (蒲黄 Typhae Pollen, typha pollen) 200g
- Hóng huā (红花 Carthami Flos, carthamus [flower]) 200g
- Táo rén (桃仁 Persicae Semen, peach kernel) 100g
- Chì sháo (赤芍 Paeoniae Radix Rubra, red peony [root]) 100g
- Zé lán (泽兰 Lycopi Herba, lycopus) 100g
- Wǔ líng zhī (五灵脂 Trogopteri Faeces, squirrel’s droppings) 100g
Actions: Disperses stasis and reduces swelling.
Indications: Bone and joint injuries and bruises.
Dosage: 6–12 pills 2–3 times a day.
Rationale: Mǎ qián zǐ, Zì rán tóng, Zhè chóng, and Gǔ suì bǔ are commonly used in the treatment of injuries because they disperse swelling, disperse bind, and relieve pain. Pú huáng, Wǔ líng zhī, Rǔ xiāng and Mò yào dispel stasis and relieve pain. Xiāng fù rectifies qì, thereby also helping to relieve pain. Táo rén, Hóng huā, Zé lán, and Chì sháo quicken the blood and dispel stasis, thereby enhancing the formula's ability to disperse swelling.
