Unripe Bitter Orange, Gardenia, and Fermented Soybean Decoction
枳实栀子豉汤 〔枳實梔子豉湯〕 zhǐ shí zhī zǐ chǐ tāng

Ingredients
- Zhǐ shí (枳实 Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, unripe bitter orange) 2g
- Zhī zǐ (栀子 Gardeniae Fructus, gardenia [fruit]) 4g
- Dàn dòu chǐ (淡豆豉 Sojae Semen Praeparatum, fermented soybean1) 8g
Actions: Clears heat and eliminates vexation; fortifies the stomach and disperses glomus.
Indications: Taxation relapse after major illness with
Method: Decoct with water.
Rationale: Zhī zǐ clears heat and drains fire, while Dàn dòu chǐ, an effusing dispersing agent, resolves the exterior, diffuses depression, and eliminates vexation. These two agents work together to address both exterior and interior patterns. Zhǐ shí disperses accumulation and disperses glomus.
Notes: This is Zhī zǐ chǐ tāng (栀子豉汤 Gardenia and Fermented Soybean Decoction) plus Zhǐ shí.
