Ingredients:

• Wú gōng (蜈蚣 Scolopendra , centipede) 10–20g
• Quán xiē (全蝎 Scorpio , scorpion) 10–20g

Action: Dispels wind and resolves tetany; relieves pain.

Indication: Tetanic reversal and convulsions of the limbs. Also persistent headache and joint pain.

Dosage: 1–1.5g 2–4 times a day. Take with warm water.

Rationale: Quán xiē and Wú gōng track down wind and free the network vessels. They settle tetany and relieve pain. Research over recent years as brought scientific confirmation of the ability of Quán xiē and Wú gōng to treat fright reversal. In clinical practice, this formula is now used to treat convulsions and arched-back rigidity in lockjaw (tetanus) and encephalitis B. Other formulas by the same name have Tiān má and Jiāng cán, or Tiān má, Jiāng cán, and Dì lóng as their ingredients.
