Source: Jīn Guì Yào Lüè 金匮要略

Ingredients

• Zhī zǐ (栀子 Gardeniae Fructus, gardenia [fruit]) 2g
• Zhǐ shí (枳实 Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, unripe bitter orange) 3g
• Dàn dòu chǐ (淡豆豉 Sojae Semen Praeparatum, fermented soybean¹) 6g
• Dà huáng (大黄 Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, rhubarb) 1g

Actions: Clears heat and eliminates vexation; disperses accumulations, drains and precipitates.

Indications: Jaundice, with hot sensation in the region of the heart (xīn zhōng ào nóng) sometimes with heat pain. Can also be used for relapses due to dietary irregularities, characterized by heat effusion and constipation.

Method: Decoct with water.
