Brightness Pill
宣明丸 〔宣明丸〕 xuān míng wán

Ingredients
- Chì sháo (赤芍 Paeoniae Radix Rubra, red peony [root]) 60g
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 60g
- Dà huáng (大黄 Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, rhubarb) 60g
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 60g
- Shēng dì huáng (生地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Exsiccata seu Recens, dried/fresh rehmannia [root]) 90g
- Huáng lián (黄连 Coptidis Rhizoma, coptis [root]) 30g
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]) 30g
- Bò hé (薄荷 Menthae Herba, mint) 30g
Actions: Drains fires and expels stasis.
Indications: Blood stasis of the eye with redness, dryness, soreness, and swelling.
Method: Grind to a powder, blend with honey, and form into pills each weighing 9g. Can also be prepared as a decoction, but the weights must be reduced.
Dosage: 1 pill morning and night.
Rationale: Dà huáng, Huáng lián, Huáng qín, and mind clear heat and drain fire. Dāng guī, Chuān xiōng, Shēng dì huáng, and Chì sháo cool and quicken the blood.
