Source: Wēn Bìng Tiáo Biàn 温病条辨

Ingredients

• Huáng lián (黄连 Coptidis Rhizoma, coptis [root]) 6g
• Tiān huā fěn (天花粉 Trichosanthis Radix, trichosanthes root) 6g
• Zhǐ shí (枳实 Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, unripe bitter orange) 6g
• Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome]) 15g

Indications: Phlegm-heat chest bind with generalized heat effusion, thirst with desire for fluids, but unallayed by intake of fluid, immediate vomiting of ingested fluids, fullness and glomus in the chest and stomach duct that is painful under pressure. There may also be constipation. Tongue: Bears glossy yellow fur. Pulse: Slippery and floating.xiamenwenbìng4

Notes: This is Xiǎo xiàn xiōng tāng (小陷胸汤 Minor Chest Bind Decoction) with the addition of Zhǐ shí to improve downbearing of bowel qì.
