Ingredients

• Fáng fēng (防风 Saposhnikoviae Radix, saposhnikovia) 30g
• Jīng jiè (荆芥 Schizonepetae Herba, schizonepeta) 30g
• Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica) 30g
• Xiān máo (仙茅 Curculiginis Rhizoma, curculigo [root]) (stir-fried with wine) 30g
• Lián qiào (连翘 Forsythiae Fructus, forsythia [fruit]) (with core removed) 30g
• Bái zhú (白朮 Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, white atractylodes [root]) (stir-fried with earth) 30g
• Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome]) 30g
• Bò hé (薄荷 Menthae Herba, mint) 30g
• Má huáng (麻黄 Ephedrae Herba, ephedra) 30g
• Zhī zǐ (栀子 Gardeniae Fructus, gardenia [fruit]) 30g
• Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root])
• Shí gāo (石膏 Gypsum Fibrosum, gypsum) (calcined) 30g
• Jié gěng (桔梗 Platycodonis Radix, platycodon [root]) 30g
• Shēng gān cǎo (生甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix Cruda, raw licorice [root]) 60g
• Huá shí (滑石 Talcum , talcum) 90g

Indications: Yīn-yáng stomach channel wind-fire binding to give rise to lip wind, characterized by itchy, swollen, red lips that if the condition persists can crack and exude fluid, become burningly sore, look as though they have no skin on them. If wind is prevalent, there may be periodic twitching.

Method: Grind to a rough powder; take 15 gr at a time decocted with water.

Notes: This is a variant of Fáng fēng tōng shèng sǎn (防风通圣散 Saposhnikovia Sage-Inspired Powder).
