Cornus Gruel

Ingredients
- Shān zhū yú (山茱萸 Corni Fructus, cornus [fruit]) 15–20g
- Jīng mǐ (粳米 Oryzae Semen, non-glutinous rice) 60g
- Bái shā táng (白沙糖 Saccharon Granulatum Album, white sugar) (to taste)
Actions: Supplements the liver and kidney; astringes essences and constrains sweat.
Indications: Liver-kidney insufficiency with dizziness, tinnitus, aching lumbus, enuresis, frequent urination, persistent
Method: Wash the cornus and remove stone (if not already removed), and boil with the rice. Add the sugar just before removing the pot from the fire.
Rationale: Shān zhū yú is sour and astringent, and in nature slightly warm. It enters the liver and kidney channels. It astringes essential qì and checks vacuity desertion, and is commonly used in medicinal formulas for lumbar and knee pain, dizziness, tinnitus, impotence, seminal emission, frequent urination, and incessant
