三消饮 〔三消飲〕sān xiāo yǐn

Ingredients:
- Shén qū (神曲 Massa Medicata Fermentata , medicated leaven) 15g
- Shān zhā (山楂 Crataegi Fructus, crataegus [fruit]) 12g
- Mài yá (麦芽 Hordei Fructus Germinatus, barley sprout) 30g
Action: Disperses accumulations and harmonizes the stomach.
Indication: Food accumulation with fullness of the stomach duct and abdomen

Method: Decoct with water.
Rationale: All three agents enter the spleen and stomach channels, and disperse food, i.e., promote digestion. Shén qū is particularly effective in eliminating fullness. Shān zhā eliminates accumulations. Mài yá harmonizes the stomach. These three agents are commonly used in formulas designed to disperse food and eliminate accumulations.
