Source: Tài Píng Shèng Huì Fāng 太平圣惠方

Ingredients

Actions: Invigorates yáng qì; supplements essence-blood; boosts the liver and kidney; warms the lumbus and knees.

Indications: Yáng vacuity emaciation, impotence, premature ejaculation, aching or cold pain in the lumbus and knees, dizzy head and flowery vision, deafness and tinnitus, dribbling urination that brings no gratification, enuresis, copious urine, and vaginal discharge and other signs of insufficiency of kidney qì.

Rationale: Sparrow's meat is warm and sweet. It enters the greater yáng and lesser yīn (shào yín) channels, as well as the life gate. It invigorates yáng and boosts qì, warms the lumbus and knees, and reduces urine. It treats yáng vacuity emaciation, impotence, frequent urination, flooding and spotting, vaginal discharge, and mounting qì (shàn qì). It is best eaten after the autumn when it is fat and tender and its invigorating effects are most appreciated by those suffering from yáng qì vacuity. Tù sī zǐ, lycium, and Fù pén zǐ are sweet and nontoxic. They enter the liver and kidney channels. They are commonly used to supplement the liver and kidney, nourish essence-blood, and strengthen the lumbus and knees. They treat limp aching lumbus and knees, lack of strength in the legs, dizziness, tinnitus, and flowery vision, impotence, premature ejaculation, enuresis, and frequent urination due to liver-kidney insufficiency.
