- Bái zhú (白朮 Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, white atractylodes [root])
- Sān qī (三七 Notoginseng Radix, notoginseng [root])
- Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria)
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) (mix-fried)
- Dāng guī (当归 Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Chinese angelica)
- Chuān xiōng (川芎 Chuanxiong Rhizoma, chuanxiong [rhizome])
- Shēng dì huáng (生地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Exsiccata seu Recens, dried/fresh rehmannia [root])
- Shú dì huáng (熟地黄 Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, cooked rehmannia [root])
- Huáng qí (黄芪 Astragali Radix, astragalus [root])
- Tiān dōng (天冬 Asparagi Radix, asparagus [root])

Actions: Supplements vacuity; invigorates kidney yáng; boosts essence-blood.
Indications: Yáng debilitation in old age, essence-marrow vacuity, lassitude of spirit, emaciation, numbness and tingling of the extremities, and inhibited urination or enuresis.
Method: The deer is prepared by first boiling the skin and bones to a paste, then boiling the innards, and grinding the dried meat to a powder.
