Ingredients

• Nán guā zǐ (南瓜子 Cucurbitae Semen, pumpkin seed) 60–120g
• Dà fù pí (大腹皮 Arecae Pericarpium, areca husk) 30–60g

Actions: Expels tapeworm.

Indications: Tapeworm infestation with abdominal pain, diarrhea, abdominal distension, indigestion, and itchy anus, and in severe cases, withered-yellow facial complexion, emaciation, and insomnia.

Method: Decoct with water.

Rationale: Bīng láng and Nán guā zǐ expel tapeworm. Bīng láng is also a mild precipitant. If the formula does not loosen the bowels, take an infusionXX of 9 gr Xuán míng fěn. If the head does not appear, take the formula again after a fortnight's interval. When the tapeworm starts to come out of the anus, do not pull it with the hands. Lie in a warm bath, and allow the worm to come out naturally. In view of the large quantity of Bīng láng it contains, this formula is contraindicated in pregnancy.
