Dampness-Clearing Phlegm-Transforming Decoction
清湿化痰汤 〔清濕化痰湯〕 qīng shī huà tán tāng

Ingredients
- Tiān nán xīng (天南星 Arisaematis Rhizoma, arisaema [root]) 3g
- Bàn xià (半夏 Pinelliae Rhizoma, pinellia [rhizome]) 3g
- Chén pí (陈皮 Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, tangerine peel) 3g
- Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria) 3g
- Cāng zhú (苍朮 Atractylodis Rhizoma, atractylodes [rhizome]) 4g
- Qiāng huó (羌活 Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, notopterygium [root]) 1g
- Huáng qín (黄芩 Scutellariae Radix, scutellaria [root]) 3g
- Bái zhǐ (白芷 Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Dahurian angelica) 3g
- Bái jiè zǐ (白芥子 Sinapis Albae Semen, white mustard [seed]) 3g
- Gān cǎo (甘草 Glycyrrhizae Radix, licorice [root]) 3g
Indications: Generalized migratory pain with pain in the chest radiating through to the back. Pulse: Sunken and slippery.
Method: Decoct with water, and add bamboo sap, ginger juice, and powdered costusroot.
Rationale: Cāng zhú and Fú líng eliminate dampness. Tiān nán xīng, Qiāng huó, white mustard, and Bái zhǐ eliminate wind. Huáng qín (treated with wine) clears heat. Bàn xià clears the lung. Chén pí fortifies the stomach and dispels phlegm.
