Ingredients:

• 潼蒺藜 12g
• Tù sī zǐ (菟丝子 Cuscutae Semen, cuscuta [seed]) 12g
• Ròu cōng róng (肉苁蓉 Cistanches Herba, cistanche) 12g
• Lù róng (鹿茸 Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum, velvet deer antler) (finely ground and drenched) 1g
• 紫菀茸 6g
• Huáng qí (黄芪 Astragali Radix, astragalus [root]) 15g
• Sāng piāo xiāo (桑螵蛸 Mantidis Oötheca, mantis egg case) 6g
• Fù zǐ (附子 Aconiti Radix Lateralis Praeparata, aconite [accessory root]) (processed) 10g
• Ròu guì (肉桂 Cinnamomi Cortex, cinnamon bark) 3g
• Fú líng (茯苓 Poria , poria) 10g
• Bái jí lí (白蒺藜 Tribuli Fructus, tribulus [fruit]) 10g

Action: Warms and supplements kidney yáng.

Indication: Debilitation of kidney yáng with persistent copious clear vaginal discharge, accompanied by such signs as profuse urination at night, daybreak diarrhea, physical cold and fear of cold, and cold sensation in the smaller (lower) abdomen. Tongue: Pale with thin white fur. Pulse: Sunken and slow. This formula is absolutely contraindicated in patients showing signs of kidney yīn vacuity.

Rationale: Lù róng invigorates kidney yáng, boosts essence-blood, and, and supplements the governing and thoroughfare vessels. It is so effective for this purpose that it can even be used alone. Fù zǐ, and Ròu guì help the Lù róng to warm the kidney and invigorate yáng. Tù sī zǐ, Shā yuàn zǐ, and Ròu cōng róngs not only invigorate kidney yáng to contain essence but also boost essence-blood, helping to reduce the damage that vaginal discharge does to kidney essence. Huáng qí boost qì and raise qì, and complements the Sāng piāo xiāo which astringes essence and checks vaginal discharge. Fú líng, Zǐ wǎn, and Jí lí eliminate dampness, which is invariably present in vaginal discharge patterns.
