Platycodon White Powder
桔梗白散 〔桔梗白散〕 jié gěng bái sǎn

Ingredients
- Jié gěng (桔梗 Platycodonis Radix, platycodon [root]) 1 part
- Zhè bèi mǔ (浙贝母 Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, Zhèjiāng fritillaria [bulb]) 3 parts
- Bā dòu (巴豆 Crotonis Fructus, croton [fruit]) 0.3g.

Actions: Ejects repletion phlegm; drains cold accumulations.
Indications: Repletion cold in binding in the chest with phlegm turbidity congesting the lung causing hardness and fullness in the chest and rib-side that is exacerbated by pressure, copious phlegm-drool, labored breathing, or cough and rapid panting, sometimes with coughing of sticky pus-like phlegm, and inability to defecate. Tongue fur: White and slimy. Pulse: Sunken and slow or sunken and tight.
Method: Grind to a powder.
Dosage: Take in small frequent doses (0.5–1.5 gr)
Rationale: Jié gěng opens lung qì and can dispel phlegm and draw out pus. Chuān bèi mǔ treats the phlegm turbidity in the chest. Bā dòu attacks cold and expels water and precipitate
