Anger causes qì to rise
怒则气上 〔怒則氣上〕nù zé qì shàng
Liver qì thrives by orderly reaching and is averse to repression. Excessive emotional stimulus can cause excessive upbearing and effusion of liver qì, causing distension and fullness in the rib-side, headache and dizziness, and red sore swollen eyes. Since the liver stores blood, liver qì ascending counterflow can carry the blood with it, giving rise to clouding reversal or retching of blood.
