Cross needling

缪刺 〔繆刺〕miù cì

A needling method involving the needling of one side of the body to treat disease affecting the other side. It differs from the great needling in that it involves shallow needling of the network vessels, and in practice mainly involves shallow needling of the well points or pricking of network vessels showing visible blood stasis to bleed. It may also include needling of points at the contralateral point in the position corresponding to that of the affected area. The cross needling method is used in the treatment of disease of the network vessels. Compare great needling and point selection.
