A method of treatment used to prevent the loss of yīn qì from the body, as in night sweating or after abatement of heat effusion in febrile disease. Yīn-constraining medicinals include cornus (Corni Fructus, 山茱萸 shān zhū yú) and schisandra (Schisandrae Fructus, 五味子 wǔ wèi zǐ).
