Yīn qì
阴气 〔陰氣〕yīn qì
The opposite of yáng qì. Yīn and yáng are the complementary and opposite poles of phenomena. Yīn qì and yáng qì are yīn and yáng viewed as complementary and opposing forces. Yīn denotes physical substrata as opposed to function. It denotes the qì of the five viscera as opposed to that of the bowels. It denotes provisioning qì as opposed to defense qì. It denotes inward and downward movement, suppressive action, weakening, and that which is heavy and turbid. See yīn; qì.
