Yáng pattern

阳症 〔陽證〕yáng zhèng

1. Any exterior pattern, heat pattern, or repletion pattern, especially repletion heat characterized by signs such as heat effusion with aversion to cold, red facial complexion, headache, generalized heat with a liking for coolness, manic agitation, dry cracked lips, vexation and thirst with taking of fluids, rough strident voice, rough breathing, constipation or foul-smelling stool, abdominal pain that refuses pressure, short voidings of reddish urine, red tongue with dry yellow fur, and a forceful floating, surging, rapid pulse.

2. Of sores, the presentation of signs such as redness, swelling, hardness, and pain. Compare yīn pattern.
