虫积肠道 〔虫积肠道〕chóng jī cháng dào

Also worm accumulation, which is a traditional disease name (worms accumulating in the intestinal tract is a modern disease pattern name).

A disease pattern chiefly characterized by abdominal pain; yellow facial complexion; emaciation; passing of roundworm in the stool.

Description: Clamoring stomach; periodic abdominal pain; in some cases, increased eating or predilection for strange foods; passing of worms in the stool; in some cases sudden abdominal pain (which may be acute), with a palpable ropelike mass (accumulation lump); in some cases, vomiting of roundworm; yellow face; emaciation; grinding of teeth in sleep; itchy nose; in some cases, white macules on the face (worm macules) or white speckles like millet seeds on the inside of the lips; in some cases, bluing of the whites of the eyes.

Diseases: Worm accumulation; clamoring stomach; abdominal pain; concretions, conglomerations, accumulations, and gatherings.

Pathogenesis: Roundworm (ascaris) in the intestinal tract obstructing the qì dynamic and depriving the body of nourishment. This results from eating of unclean gourds, fruits, and vegetables contaminated with roundworm eggs, which then multiply in the intestines.
