When dampness prevails, yáng is debilitated
湿胜则阳微 〔濕勝則陽微〕 shī shèng zé yáng wēi
Dampness damages yáng qì. Dampness is a heavy, turbid, sticky evil, and obstructs the activity of yáng qì, especially that of the spleen, causing a white complexion, oppression in the chest, abdominal distension, glomus and fullness, diarrhea, and, in severe cases, water swelling. In treating dampness, attention must be paid to safeguarding yáng qì, to disinhibiting urine, and to avoiding excessive use of cold or cool medicinals.
