Umbilical damp

脐湿 〔臍濕〕qí shī

Also umbilical damp swelling. A condition of wetness of and possible exudation from the umbilicus, sometimes with redness and swelling of the surrounding area after the umbilical cord has been shed. Umbilical damp is attributed to the invasion of water-damp due to improper care after removal of the cord.

Medicinal therapy: Disperse toxin. Dab dragon bone (Mastodi Ossis Fossilia, 龙骨 lóng gǔ) or calcined oyster shell (Ostreae Concha Calcinata, 煅牡蛎 duàn mǔ lì), and calamine (Calamina, 炉甘石 lú gān shí) onto the affected area.
