Child dysentery
小儿痢疾 〔小兒痢疾〕xiǎo ér lì jí
Dysentery in infants and children, usually resulting from contraction of damp-heat and damage by raw, cold, or unclean food in summer. Child dysentery is characterized by heat effusion, abdominal pain and, in the initial stage, diarrhea with watery stool, which gives way to the standard signs of dysentery, i.e., stool containing pus and blood with tenesmus and frequent defecation. Distinction is made between cold and heat pattern.
