Transformation into heat
化热 〔化熱〕 huà rè
Also heat formation. The development of heat signs in externally contracted disease. In the initial-stage, external evils such as wind, cold, dryness, and dampness invade the body and give rise to an exterior cold pattern marked by aversion to cold and a thin white tongue fur. If the evil then penetrates the qì aspect, aversion to cold is replaced by aversion to heat, thirst, dry lips, heart vexation, constipation, reddish urine, a red tongue with yellow fur, and a rapid pulse. Cold damage evil lingers in the exterior, and then transforms into heat and enters the interior.
Compare transformation into fire.
