Thigh

髀 〔髀〕 bì

股〔股〕

The upper section of the leg from the knee to the trunk; the thigh bone. The Magic Pivot (灵枢 líng shū, gǔ dù) states, [the distance] between the thighs is six inches and a half.

Etymology

Chinese: is composed of 卑, low, with 骨, the bone signifier, said to indicate that it is a bone of the lower body. In usage, it denotes the thigh in general, and especially the outer aspect. 股 also denotes the thigh, especially the inner aspect.
