Thigh
髀 〔髀〕 bì
股〔股〕gǔ
The upper section of the leg from the knee to the trunk; the thigh bone. [the distance] between the thighs is six inches and a half.
Etymology
Chinese: 髀 bì is composed of 卑, low, with 骨, the bone signifier, said to indicate that it is a bone of the lower body. In usage, it denotes the thigh in general, and especially the outer aspect. 股 gǔ also denotes the thigh, especially the inner aspect.
